The 2023 presidential election marks a historic moment for our nation, and one of the candidates standing tall with a vision to make Nigeria great again is His Excellency, Dr. Hamza Al-Mustapha, the presidential flag bearer of the Action Alliance (AA).
A Life of Service and Commitment
Born on July 27, 1960, Dr. Hamza Al-Mustapha began his educational journey in Nguru before enrolling at the prestigious Nigerian Defense Academy, Kaduna, where he was commissioned into the Nigerian Army in 1983.
Throughout his military career, he served with loyalty and distinction in various command posts including the Security Group of the Directorate of Military Intelligence (SG-DMI), 82 Division, Army Headquarters, and the Ministry of Defense. His most notable role was serving as Chief Security Officer to the late Head of State, General Sani Abacha.
Trials That Shaped a Leader
Following the death of General Abacha in 1998, Al-Mustapha played a critical role in ensuring a smooth military succession to prevent a national crisis. However, he was later removed from office and endured over 15 years of imprisonment, a period that tested his resilience and deepened his patriotism.
Upon his release, he settled in Kano and soon turned to politics. In 2017, he founded the Green Party of Nigeria (GPN), and by 2019, he contested as the presidential candidate of the Peoples Party of Nigeria (PPN). Although he did not make significant impact then, his commitment to Nigeria never wavered.
On June 8, 2022, Dr. Hamza Al-Mustapha secured the Action Alliance (AA) presidential ticket to contest in the 2023 general elections, reaffirming his determination to serve the people of Nigeria.
